Event Details
The 9th Carolinas Kickoff . will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at Metrolina Christian, which features a flat and fast, double-loop 5K course and a flat and fast 3K course, and is a great season-opening course for any of your runners
- This event will be chip-timed. Times can be found at http://mitchelltiming.com/
- We are starting early to avoid the heat, so the cooler weather will be more conducive to fast performances!
- COURSE: Flat, fast and through the woods on dirt/grass, which will be an encouragement for a first meet. Any shoe is appropriate (racing flats, spikes, and even trainers for those runners who don’t have flats or spikes)
- WATER: We will have water, but also please bring your own water so that your athletes can have access to fluids in multiple places
- CONCESSIONS: We will have Sunset Slush, as well as food trucks.
- T-SHIRTS: We will have meet t-shirts for $20 (new and better design for 2024!)
- MEDICAL: We will have Union County EMS and Novant Healthcare trainers on site. If you have a trainer for your school, please feel free to bring them, as well.

Race Schedule
Varsity Boys: Caleb A, Sam C, Luke S, Blaze F, Elijah D, Rye A, Caleb S. Please arrive at 6:00 am. Yes, it is still dark, but it gives you a few minutes before warm ups
Varsity Girls: Harmony F, Adeline S, Sadie W, Nadia A, Elisa B, Anna P, Rosemarie K. Please arrive at 6:30 am.
Everyone else, please arrive by 6:50 am. Plan to be ready to cheer on our varsity Runners!
All other high school runners will be in the JV race.
All middle school runners will run in the race for their grade level. Only exceptions are middle school runners who are in the varsity race.
- 7:00 a.m : 5K Varsity Boys’ Championship (top 7 runners)…Top 20 will receive medals
- 7:30 a.m : 5K Varsity Girls’ Championship (top 7 runners)…Top 20 will receive medals
- 8:05 a.m : Boys’ & Girls’ JV 5K (anyone not in the top 7)…Top 10 JV boys/Top 10 JV girls will receive medals.
- 8:40 a.m : Boys’ Middle School 3K Championship (top 7 from each team)…Top 15 will receive medals
- 9:00 a.m : Girls’ Middle School 3K Championship (top 7 from each team)…Top 15 will receive medals
- 9:20 a.m : 6th Grade Boys’ & Girls’ 3K (those not in the top 7)…Top 15 boys & Top 15 girls will receive medals
- 9:45 a.m : 7th Grade Boys & Girls’ 3K (those not in the top 7)…Top 15 boys & Top 15 girls will receive medals
- 10:10 a.m : 8th Grade Boys’ & Girls’ 3K (those not in the top 7)…Top 15 boys & Top 15 girls will receive medals
- 10:35 a.m : Elementary 2K Invitational (2nd-5th Grade)….Top 15 boys & Top 15 girls will receive medals
Please plan to stay until all Trailblazers have finished their race.

Parking
- SPECTATORS: Please begin parking at the back of the school (closest to the course) and then let the lot fill up so that it’s easier for people to find places as they arrive.
- If you arrive for a later race, there might be parking spaces closer to the course left vacant by spectators from the high school meet who left after those races.
