Homecoming 2026

Event Details:

This is a unique meet hosted at Coach Rick’s home as part of his church’s “Homecoming” Weekend. It is primarily a Trailblazer time trial, which will be used to set workout groups and determine Varsity athletes. In the past we have also had several community members join us, as well as some Chester cross country teams and it has always been a fun race.

Who: All Trailblazers, Parents, Siblings, Friends
When: Saturday, August 8, 2026
Warm-ups: 7:30 a.m. (Please arrive by 7:15!)
Race starts at 8:00 a.m.
Where: Coach Rick’s home, 664 Pineview Lakes Rd., Chester, SC,

Parking and Instructions:

Please park perpendicular to the road, either in front of Coach Wheeler’s house (see photo below) or facing the lake as you come up the road!

• Bring water and snacks for after the race.
• Bring lawn chairs for spectators if desired.
• Bathrooms will be available inside Coach Wheelers house.
• Parents not racing may be recruited to help with timing. Kelly Grimshaw will be heading up this effort, so if you are available please find her when you arrive.
• As a community race, the timing for this is different from anything else (and will be explained at the start).
• Runners will not need to check-in before the race. They will be given a number as they finish and will take their number to a parent with a clipboard to record their name and age group with their finishing number.
• The Akins will be recording down times in order as people finish.
• After the race, we’ll match the times to the finishing numbers and pass out awards.
• The rest of the results will be attached to the weekly newsletter.
• Please do not ask for your time at the finish line!
• “Paper Plate” Awards go to the top finisher in the following categories: Middle School Boy/Girl, High School Boy/Girl, Youth Boy/Girl, Young Adult (Alumni) Boy/Girl, Parent Dad/Mom.

*It is expected that all athletes attend this meet. We understand if you have a family vacation scheduled, but please note we do use the results of this meet to plan workouts and set our Varsity team for other early season meets.
